Our Story

Audiology and Hearing Aid Center of Gainesville has been providing audiological services and hearing aids to the Gainesville and Washington D.C. area since 2006. Our practice was founded by Dr. Diane Badua, an audiologist and hearing specialist since 1986 with a commitment to improving her patients’ hearing and quality of life. We’re here to help you hear all the wonderful sounds that life has to offer.

We appreciate our patients, which is why we want you to be as comfortable as possible. Let us be your guide on the road to better hearing.

We are a small and personal practice, but that doesn’t mean we’re behind the times. We’re pleased to offer you the latest innovations in hearing aid technology. With 100% digital devices, traditional hearing aids, and everything in between, we’re prepared to meet your hearing needs.

Meet Our Team

Diane M. Badua Audiologist

Diane M. Badua

Audiologist

Dr. Diane Badua graduated from the State University of New York, College at Fredonia in 1986 with her masters in Audiology. She returned to school 18 years later and received her Doctor of Audiology from the University of Florida. Dr. Badua has lived in New York, Georgia, Hawaii, Virginia, and Germany. She has worked in a variety of settings including speech and hearing clinics, hearing aid dispensing offices, and schools as she gained experience working with newborns, toddlers, children, and adults. 

“I love seeing the smile on a patient’s face when putting a hearing aid on for the first time and to be able to hear sounds they haven’t heard in years.”

Audiology and Hearing Aid Center of Gainesville opened in October 2006 allowing Dr. Badua to put her varied experiences to work in one setting.

 

Dr. Badua resides with her husband Sam. They both enjoy the great outdoors such as hiking, running, and camping. Their son, Sean, graduated from West Point Army Academy in 2018 and is now a commissioned officer. Their daughter, Jenizza, received her master’s degree from Virginia Tech in 2019.

 

Dr. Badua is looking forward to traveling!

Dr. Jamie Clark received her Master of Education in Hearing Disorders in 2000 from James Madison University and her Doctorate in Audiology in 2009 from the University of Florida. For more than 20 years Jamie has worked as a Diagnostic and Dispensing Audiologist in a variety of professional settings.

She has held the position of Clinical Supervisor and Adjunct Faculty at James Madison University, instructing and mentoring graduate students since 2007. She has worked in the medical community with several prominent Otolaryngologists for more than 10 years providing diagnostic audiometry, electrophysiology, hearing aid evaluation, selection and programming, and aural rehabilitation services.  She served as a Clinical Outreach Audiologist for a leading hearing aid manufacturer, further enhancing her knowledge base within the hearing aid industry.

Dr. Jamie Clark received her Master of Education in Hearing Disorders in 2000 from James Madison University and her Doctorate in Audiology in 2009 from the University of Florida. For more than 20 years Jamie has worked as a Diagnostic and Dispensing Audiologist in a variety of professional settings.

Dr. Theresa Bell

Audiologist

Theresa Bell is a native of Virginia and has been practicing audiology since 1989. She attended Radford University in Radford, Virginia, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Communication Disorders and her master’s degree in Audiology. She completed her Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree from A.T. Still University. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings throughout the DC/MD/VA region. Dr. Bell is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) and a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) with which she holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A). She is licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia as both an Audiologist and Hearing Aid Specialist.

Theresa Bell is a native of Virginia and has been practicing audiology since 1989. Emily Pastore, Au.D., joined the Audiology and Hearing Aid Center of Gainesville in April 2023. She is a licensed Audiologist and Hearing Aid Specialist in Northern Virginia. She earned her B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Detroit Mercy and her Doctor of Audiology from the University of Tennessee.

Dr. Pastore has over 17 years working as a clinician in a variety of clinical settings including Ear, Nose and Throat, Private Practice and Hospital settings. She joined the JMU Audiology Clinic as a part-time clinical educator in January 2022. Dr. Pastore is certified with the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and is a member of the Speech and Hearing Association of Virginia (SHAV).

Dr. Pastore’s husband retired from the US Coast Guard in 2019 and they have settled in Northern Virginia. While he was active duty, she worked in Ear, Nose and Throat clinics from Portland, ME to Charleston, SC. Dr. Pastore enjoys working with patients from Oto 100+ years old. She focuses on comprehensive hearing evaluations and finding the best amplification options for patients who desire or require aural rehabilitation. Additionally, she enjoys working alongside the audiology graduate students in the clinic and teaching the next generation of hearing healthcare providers.

Dr. Pastore lives in Woodbridge, VA with her husband and 2 children. When she is not in clinic, she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling along the east coast for her children’s sporting events.

Emily Pastore

Audiologist

Emily Pastore, Au.D., joined the Audiology and Hearing Aid Center of Gainesville in April 2023. She is a licensed Audiologist and Hearing Aid Specialist in Northern Virginia. She earned her B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Detroit Mercy and her Doctor of Audiology from the University of Tennessee.

Catie Chalmers, Au.D.

Dr. Catie Chalmers earned her master’s degree in Audiology from West Virginia University in 1999 and her Doctorate of Audiology from A.T. Still University in 2010. She has worked as a Clinical Audiologist in Ear, Nose and Throat settings for over 20 years specializing in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of hearing and balance disorders. She enjoys improving the overall quality of life for her newborn to senior adult patients and their families.

 

Dr. Chalmers is a native West Virginian and currently resides in northern Virginia with her husband and two dogs. They have three successful daughters who graduated from George Mason University. She enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, cooking and outdoor activities.

Dr. Catie Chalmers earned her master’s degree in Audiology from West Virginia University in 1999 and her Doctorate of Audiology from A.T. Still University in 2010.
